Synoptic Data, the world’s most trusted partner for real-time environmental observations, has been awarded a multi-year contract to design, develop, and operate the WIS 2.0 Test Infrastructure, a critical component of the global weather and climate data modernization effort. The multi-year contract represents a significant step forward in advancing reliable, accessible environmental data systems—especially for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and under-observed regions.

The WIS 2.0 Test Infrastructure will provide a controlled, reliable and scalable environment for testing and validating the performance of the system and its components. It will allow private and government partners to ensure their systems are fully functional and synergized before entering operational use, reducing risks to live services.

“This milestone not only showcases our technical expertise but also reflects our commitment to building a stronger, more connected global environmental data ecosystem,” said Ashish Raval, President and CEO of Synoptic Data. “We see this as a meaningful step toward supporting regions that rely on accurate, real-time data for safety and resilience.”

Key features of the WIS 2.0 Test Infrastructure include:

  • Comprehensive Validation: A dedicated platform to test WIS2 Nodes from data providers for adherence to operational standards and seamless integration with global services.
  • Performance and Resilience Testing: Evaluation of critical components such as global brokers, caches, and monitoring tools under realistic conditions.
  • Simulated Real-World Scenarios: Tools to replicate network traffic and operational challenges, ensuring robust performance.

This achievement builds on Synoptic Data’s 20+ years of experience delivering resilient, compatible environmental data solutions that support decision-making and protect life and property. It also highlights the importance of public-private collaboration in advancing global climate and weather data initiatives.
