Access to accurate weather data is crucial for daily life—whether it’s ensuring safety, supporting businesses, or making personal decisions. At Synoptic, we’re proud to be your trusted source for real-time and historical global weather observations. Our Data Viewer is used by thousands of users worldwide, delivering observations from over 150,000 stations on one user-friendly platform.
Today, we’re excited to share some great news! We’ve enhanced the platform with three new weather layers to provide even more value and functionality to our users. These additions include U.S. Radar, National Weather Service (NWS) Watches and Warnings, and Local Storm Reports. With these new tools, you’ll have enhanced ways to monitor current weather conditions, improve situational awareness, and make informed decisions.
What’s New?
Here’s a quick look at the new features we’ve added to the Synoptic Data Viewer:
- Composite and Base Radar Reflectivity: View real-time radar imagery to track precipitation and severe weather patterns across the United States.
- NWS Watches and Warnings: Stay informed of active alerts from the National Weather Service, providing crucial details on potential hazardous weather in your area.
- Local Storm Reports: Access localized reports of storm activity, including damage assessments, high winds, hail, and other severe conditions.
These layers are available to all users, free of charge, and they cover the entire United States. We believe these new features will significantly improve your weather monitoring experience.
How to Access the New Layers
You can access the new layers within the Explore tool and our premium Dashboard tool. Simply navigate to the Explore map and click the layers icon (located at the bottom left corner of the map) to toggle the Radar, Watches and Warnings, and Storm Reports layers on and off.
