The data provided to Synoptic Data are made available either by accessing open-source data repositories or provided voluntarily to us by government agencies, educational institutions, or commercial firms. These efforts are supported in part by the National Mesonet Program of the National Weather Service. These data are intended to be used by: governmental agencies to protect lives and property, the public for general information, and educational institutions for instructional and research purposes. Other uses of the data may require a contract with Synoptic Data or the entity providing the data. Any restricted data purchased and accessed through Synoptic Data is not to be redistributed and API tokens are not to be shared or displayed publicly per the contract with restricted data providers. Please contact Synoptic if you need additional data sets or are unsure if your use case falls under our Open Access options.

Example acknowledgement: “This research utilized weather observations for X station/s from Y network/s and were obtained using the Synoptic Data PBC Mesonet API.”
