Synoptic Data is a 100% remote, atmospheric and earth science “Data as a Service” (DaaS) and “Software as a Service” (SaaS) company. We are experiencing rapid growth and are seeking a SALES ASSOCIATE to build relationships with business decision makers to sell products and services for one of the largest environmental data aggregators and distributors in the world. It is a great opportunity to work with cutting-edge weather technology and data solutions.
The ideal candidate will use a wide range of skills, techniques, and tools to work with potential B2B and B2G customers and recommend solutions that are relevant to their business and mission goals. This would include in-person visits, phone calls, emails, video conferencing, and social media messaging, to encourage prospects to discover the value of our products and services. Research and develop customer leads and work with marketing and technical teams to build use cases for potential customer applications and services.

Essential Job Functions
- Identify, qualify, and engage potential clients interested in weather and environmental data solutions.
- Present and demonstrate the value of the Synoptic Weather API to businesses, researchers, and government organizations.
- Develop and manage a sales pipeline, tracking progress and ensuring timely follow-ups.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, understanding their unique needs and challenges.
- Collaborate with the marketing and product teams to optimize sales strategies and client engagement.
- Negotiate contracts and close deals, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market needs, and competitor offerings.
- Gather customer feedback to inform business and technical teams
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of experience in sales, preferably in SaaS, DaaS, API, or data-driven solutions.
- Strong understanding of APIs, cloud-based services, or weather/environmental data
applications. - Excellent communication and presentation skills with a consultative sales approach.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Ability to learn technical details quickly and translate them into business value.
- Experience using CRM tools like Salesforce, Zoho, HubSpot, or equivalent.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently.
Desired
- Background in meteorology, GIS, environmental science, or a related field.
- Existing network of contacts within industries that rely on weather data.
- Experience with B2B enterprise sales or government contracts.

ADA Physical and Mental Requirements
Regular reading, writing, speaking and understanding English. Frequent interactions require good interpersonal skills, teamwork, customer service and use of discretion. Regular decision making, independent judgment, problem analysis. Frequent talking, repetitive motions of hands/wrists, sitting, hearing and keyboarding. Occasional lifting, bending, or carrying. 5-10% travel requirement.
